The first step in self-development process is to be encouraged to engage in the social events and communicating with other individuals in a society either inside one family, at school, at university, or at work place. This interaction increases the granted experiences and make each one of us learn new skills.
In Syria, as the importance of women role increases, women have to get more active and get engaged so they discover their abilities and skills as a step to continue contributing in the society in our modern times.
UKSSD e. V. since its foundation has implemented small-scaled activities in WPE sector and created opportunities for female activists and students to develop their skills and apply it in social and organizational fields. UKSSD team held another one-day workshop on psychological support and self-development for a groups of female students from High School Level under the supervision of Ms. Siliva Ahmed and Ms. Khabat Omar at UKSSD center in Qamishlo.
The first session of the program was an introduction between different participants as each participants was asked to take a paper and write about herself, her family members, her hobbies, her future wishes, her interests, and what she want to learn in this workshop. This session was ended after participants shred their ideas with each other in groups.
The second session started with questions that were prepared by trainers such as: mentions some names that have effect on you and your future plans?, mention some names from our society those who have effect on you and/or look similar to your way of thinking?, mention some names who might be considered as your ideal?. In addition to that, there were other questions raised in this session so participants will get to know each other from a daily-perspective criteria.
The next session was a presentation by Khabat Omar about “Success and Basic Steps of setting a Goal in Life” and how to collect information, tools, and skills to make this “Goal” become real in near future. After the presentation was finished, participants were asked to aplly some information in group to facilitate the flexibility of learning process and enhance their willing to draw their goals.
The last session was a game designed by Siliva Ahmed. The game consists of balloons with different colors that were put on the table. Each participant was asked to choose a balloon with her favorite color and write the most difficult three obstacles that she face in her social life and most three difficult obstacles in her current student life.
The youth stage is the most important stage in our life due to the physical and mental energy that each person enjoys in this period. The participants had different perspectives, skills, ambitions, goals, and dreams that they want to achieve in the lives. The only thing that they miss is a practical guidance and a safe space where they can make their goals and dreams a reality.
