It is a well-known fact that especially young children need some time before they can follow class and their teacher. In North Syria, where the learning environment is primarily shaped by every day political troubles, it is even more complicated for local teachers to direct the children’s attention to class.
Thus, in Kobanê too every schoolday with teacher Rojin Khalil starts with rather conventional pedagogical methods: fifteen minutes of warm up activities and games which are then being followed by English class, maths and many other subjects.
