Foundation and History

DOZ started from the roots of an emerging young civil society in war and conflict times. It was founded in 2011 in the form of university student groups in Syria. In year 2012 DOZ organized itself and was established as a nonprofit NGO. In 2014, DOZ officially registered and established its HQ office in Germany. The HQ office was established for representation, coordination with donors, partners, and networks, and for providing technical support for our local teams, programs, and projects.

DOZ e.V., also called (DOZ International) is a registered, non-profit, non-governmental organization. DOZ is a Local and Migrant-led organization.

DOZ `{`d ɔ z`}` Kurdish – Kurmancî noun, f., is a Kurdish word and it means: The Cause of the People.

DOZ Slogan: We’ve had enough of war heroes; we need peace heroes.
